Use the original GLM-5.3 through Coding Plan or ZCode for its published coding profile; use GLM-5.3-Flash when you need MIT weights, first-party API access or native multimodality; retain GLM-5.2 as an established open and priced route; and evaluate assistants, autonomous agents and media products separately.

The original GLM-5.3 is the text-focused Coding Plan flagship for complex software engineering, long-horizon agents and cybersecurity. GLM-5.3-Flash is a separate, newly trained native-multimodal model with 320B total and 18B active parameters, MIT weights, first-party API access and local deployment. GLM-5.2 remains an established alternative with published pricing and open weights.
Use GLM-5.3 through its documented Coding Plan or ZCode surfaces.
Use GLM-5.3-Flash when API access, native vision or MIT weights drive the decision.
Use GLM-5.2 when the existing pricing and deployment record is preferable.
BigModel API usage is metered by model-specific rates. Coding Plan uses subscription credits, five-hour and weekly limits, model multipliers and off-peak rules for documented compatible coding tools. Do not budget application traffic from Coding Plan quotas or assume a subscription creates ordinary API balance.

ZCode is an agentic development environment, not a generic API wrapper. Its Goal mode, repository tools, terminal, Git operations and remote continuation define a wider execution boundary. Review repository access, command confirmation, remote control and account permissions separately from model quality.

Use Coding Plan with a supported tool when a different runtime owns the workflow.
ChatGLM is a consumer assistant. AutoGLM and AutoClaw are broader agent products. GLM image, video and audio products use different inputs, outputs, moderation and commercial-use terms. Shared branding does not make their permissions, billing or output rights interchangeable.
Use ChatGLM for user-facing chat rather than inferring API rights.
